About Sharing

Dear reader,

Billet-doux, an impressionistic film which uses the structure of the English alphabet, is a series of short love notes to God. It is a film that I hope to complete by 2010. Please, if you’d like, share your own thoughts about God and your relationship, or non-relationship with God. The alphabet words that I have selected and am working with in the film came through a process of asking friends, family members and colleagues about their experience with God. I was, and continue to be, astonished at how unique and intimate the expressions are. The words that I ended up choosing cover a broad range of experiences and allow for a spectrum of religious traditions and practices. Your contributions on this site will both widen and deepen my thinking, and more importantly, will help all of us have a more active relationship with God. Let’s keep it simple, genuine, expressive and respectful. All are welcome in this conversation about God.

You can respond by choosing a Billet-doux link from the category list to your right and clicking on Comments at the bottom of the post. In the film each concept/letter will be represented by an interview, narrative or cinema verite scene. All of my filming will be done within 100 miles of my home in Spokane, Washington. This construct is my way of finding God close to home and in the most ordinary of places. At some point I will post a Billet-doux film trailer on the site.

Thank you for your interest and involvement in this work. I look forward to reading your responses!
